Description

Name: BRS Corporal O'Reilly
Barn Name: Radar
Breed: Kaimanawa (Kiwistang) Kaimanawa-Challenge
Gender:
 Stallion
Age: 8 years
Height: 16 hh
Colour: Bay Roan with Corn Spots and Bird Catchers
Genotype: Ee/AA/RR
Eyes: Brown
Personality/Known History: Not much known. Not a lot of personality shown so far - will need someone to get out of his shell. So far, on arriving at Blue Ridge Stables, he's shown a peculiar ability to know when a truck is arriving up to ten minutes before it actually does, and announcing its arrival with a loud whinny. He's quite the little gentleman, willing to please and obey authority, within reason. Within reason at this point meaning that he will allow people to lead him most places, and maybe groom him. Maybe.
Vet Check Result: Healthy

Story:
Robin looked up from his book as a car pulled into the driveway. His new room didn't have a window facing the driveway, but he didn't bother to get up. His birthday, and his parents hadn't even spoken to him yet, and it was 8 in the morning already. He rolled off his bed and crossed to the door, reaching for the handle on the other side before he remembered and opened it.
"Mom?" Pause. "Hey, mom!" No answer. He wandered down the hall to the living room, nearly tripping over several of the boxes his mom had left there from the move a few weeks before. As he reached the kitchen, the mud room door opened and shut, and his mom walked in, greeting him with a smile.
"Hey, Robin! Your dad's outside, he wants to see you about fixing up one of those stalls."
"Oh, right." Robin groaned, and grudgingly started putting on his mud boots. 8 in the morning on his birthday, and they were starting chores on the barn. Sure, they needed to get done, and he didn't have a problem with doing them today, but at least a happy birthday first would have been nice. They wouldn't be getting a horse for another few months at least, and they'd already had him clear the pasture of weeds. He'd even helped his dad take out the old oak tree that had been dropping acorns over the fence into the pasture, and his parents still hadn't said a word about getting him a horse. He finished tying his boots with a jerk of the laces and headed out, reaching the gravel courtyard through the garage, mentally kicking himself for complaining so much.
One thing he had to say about this move, they had a lot more space now. After spending 8 years in a little neighborhood with only one acre to their names, it was nice to have room to stretch his legs. They'd moved the horse trailer next to the barn for some reason. That had probably been the car he'd heard pulling in, but why on earth would it have been moved nearer the barn? Honestly, why had they moved it at all?
He kicked the tire idly as he passed, calling to his dad as he went. Suddenly, a noise inside the trailer made him stop.
"Dad? That you?" He walked over to the doors and stood for a moment. The noise came again. "Dad?" Still silence. He looked at the latch, and to his surprise it was locked, from the outside. Could they have gotten him a dog or something? He grinned and started to unlatch the doors when he heard a noise that stopped him dead, his hand frozen mid-movement.
"What-" It couldn't be. It couldn't possibly be what it sounded like. He threw back the latch and pulled the door open as fast as he could, unsure of what he was going to find. Inside, in the light from the windows, was a horse. A medium-sized roan, it looked like, though it was hard to tell.
Robin stood utterly frozen, afraid to move in case he woke up and it was all a dream. He was pretty sure his mouth was hanging open in the stupidest grin the world had ever seen, but at this point he was too shocked to care. The horse moved, turning its head to see him better, the whites of its eyes showing as it blew nervously, its ears swiveling every which way as if the horse was using radar, sensing its surroundings through the sides of the trailer. Robin turned to the house to call his mom and took a step back in surprise as he realized she was standing only a few feet away, filming him on her phone. He was too happy to be mad at her for that.
"Mom..." He turned to look at the horse again, just to make sure it hadn't disappeared. "Mom, is he mine?"

Hey, look, everyone, I did a background! A bit of an improvement from the last one I tried, and I'm sure it can only improve from here. I had so much fun with this one, and I've completely fallen in love with this little guy. He's so pretty! This is going to be a lot of fun, I know it. I've already finished lineart on the next piece!
