Edit: I had a painting layer turned off *facepalm*
I am honestly really proud of this piece, for a few reasons. Firstly, and most importantly, I finally feel like I'm able to make more interesting compositions. If you look through my gallery you'll see that a lot of my pieces feel relatively the same (horse rearing/running/standing, seen from almost-but-not-quite the side, positioned to the left or right of the picture). This picture breaks away from that a bit, and I'm hoping I'll be able to keep going. Secondly, I was able to play with fire without burning myself (metaphorically or course). I like how the lighting turned out, though I'm always open to advice on improving it (seriously, if you see something you think I should fix, TELL ME. I want to make my pictures the best they can be). Thirdly, I'm slowly getting better at more realistic, "living" hair. The key word is obviously "slowly" but like with composition I am improving. So yeah, super proud of this and excited to see how the rest of the year is going to look!
This is my last piece for SnickerDoodleMule, it's of their character Calliope.
